International Student Guide To Birmingham 2017

Top Nights Out in Birmingham

With a thriving nightlife in the city centre and its suburbs, there's somewhere to go on a night out whatever music you're into. Here are some of our favourite areas to go to for a night out in Birmingham.

Broad Street is the hub of student nightlife, featuring a ‘Golden Mile’ of bars and clubs, including Players, Walkabout and Revolution. Freshers’ Week usually features a couple of nights out here. Make sure to join a society if you’d like to visit again on student nights out.

Summer Row offers a more refined atmosphere than Broad Street and a chance to “suit up”. It’s home to clubs Après and Mechu.

Brindleyplace offers lots of bars as well as Aluna, Malmaison, Gas Street Social and Pennyblacks which can be found at The Mailbox.

Hurst Street is home to Birmingham’s biggest gay club, The Nightingale, and its neighbour, The Arcadian, boast seven different bars and clubs all just a few steps away from each other. Snobs is also round the corner for lovers of indie hits and old school classics.

The city centre is full of unique bars and pubs such as the quirky Victoria or the Jekyll and Hyde, the picturesque The Botanist and the grand Old Joint Stock. Can’t decide where to go? A walk away from New Street towards Snow Hill will give you plenty of options along the way.
