A melting pot of different cultures, you can get authentic foods from all around the world right on your doorstep when you are living in Birmingham. Here are some of out top picks for places to get food in Birmingham - from fancy meals and fine dining to meals out for those on a more modest student budget. 

Bitters ‘n’ Twisted have many venues across Birmingham, offering a mix of dishes and unique cocktails. Sample quality pub grub at The Rose Villa Tavern and stay a while after for their resident DJ nights. If you’re living in the surrounding student areas of the University of Birmingham, The New Inn located in Harborne is a contemporary British gastropub, offering a fine selection of organic and free-range meat.

South American - Bodega offers South American classics, with plenty of nachos and tequila, as does Las Iguanas in the Arcadian.

Vegetarian – There are many options for vegetarians in Birmingham, including fine dining at 1847 or the Warehouse Cafe for a more affordable and independent meal in the artistic neighbourhood of Digbeth. BYOB is recommended at the Warehouse Cafe, adding to the relaxed vibe of this not-for-profit charity.

Indian – You can’t miss sampling a curry in the birthplace of the Balti! Shababs in the heart of Birmingham’s Balti triangle offers an authentic Brummie Balti experience. If you’re staying in the city, try Gordon Ramsay’s Best Local UK Restaurant, Lasan, in Saint Paul’s Square for a special occasion.

Chinese – Visit Birmingham’s Chinese Quarter around the Hippodrome theatre for authentic Chinese dishes. Chung Ying Garden is a favourite and after dinner you can go next door to Ming Moon for some Chinese karaoke entertainment.

Thai – Located just outside of the Bullring is Chaophraya, so you can grab a taste of Thailand whilst taking a break from your shopping trip. 

Finally, Digbeth Dining Club is a weekly street food event on every Friday in Digbeth.
