i-studentglobal's Top Weekend Destinations

One of the best experiences of studying abroad in Europe is having some of the world’s hottest destinations at your fingertips. Whether you have a semester or years abroad, there’s plenty of time to explore some of the most influential cities in history. As students, budgeting is of the highest necessity, and for that Europe has created low-cost airlines and forms of budget accommodation to suite any traveller needs.

Here at i-studentglobal we have created a go-to list for students having a first-year abroad, based on cost and tremendous personal experiences.

 Firstly, the one and only…

Ahh, Dutch hospitality. Are you mesmerised by the laid-back culture motivated by liberal ideals and environmental health (ahem, biking)? Look no further than the ‘red-light district’ hosting city itself. Along with a plethora of museums including Van Gogh, NEMO, and the Sexmuseum, Amsterdam hosts a variety of greenery such as Vondelpark and small terraces of De Pjip that are sure to cure the hangover of a night out in Leidseplein. The liberal culture in Amsterdam exists throughout the country, making it an easy, fun weekend away.

Flights from EasyJet start from just £20, depending on the weekday and time of year. As hostel prices go up on the weekends, it is advised to book a hostel in advance or take the trip during the week if possible.

In need of some warm weather? Portugal offers some of the most scenic beaches overlooked by limestone rock with plentiful activities including surfing, swimming, drinking, more drinking, and shopping. As the Algarves is a section of southern Portugal, there are numerous cities to choose from depending on the type of holiday wanted and the cost. Some of the beachy options include Lagos, Albufeira, and Praia de Rocha. As all are accessible easily by bus and taxi, it is best to pick one and save a day to explore more of the Portuguese coastline.

Best places to find holidays in the Algarve are onthebeach.co.uk. or using flights from EasyJet and finding low-cost accommodation.
