Senior International Officer - Job Role

Based in the USA, the post holder will work directly under the International Recruitment Manager for the Americas and with the other Senior International Officers based in the USA and the International Recruitment Coordinator based in Glasgow, meeting institutional and College targets in relation to the University’s International Recruitment strategy and agreed key performance indicators (KPIs) for the USA.

To contribute to the recruitment of increased numbers of full-time and study abroad undergraduate students and postgraduate students on taught and research programmes from the USA to the University of Glasgow.

To facilitate the development and maintenance of priority partnerships/collaborations with key Higher Education institutions, high schools, government agencies and other contacts within and outside the University in line with the University of Glasgow’s internationalisation strategy.

NOTE the post holder may be asked to attend International recruitment events in other countries across the Americas if required.

Knowledge/Qualifications

Essential:
A1 Degree level education or postgraduate/professional qualification/Higher degree or relevant experience 
A2 Up to date knowledge of Higher Education systems and government policy in the USA and other key markets across the Americas.
A3 Some knowledge and understanding of the UK Higher Education system and application systems (e.g., UCAS and the Common App in the USA). 
A4 Some knowledge of broader external market environment

Desirable:
B1 Possess an understanding of the University of Glasgow
B2 Knowledge of institutional and College strategic priorities
B3 In-depth knowledge of the University’s degree programmes and research strengths 

Skills

Essential:
C1 High level negotiation skills
C2 Project management skills
C3 Identifying trends in markets, generating original ideas and innovative solutions
C4 Proven high level communication skills, obtained through representational and negotiating activities
C5 Excellent analytical, time management, administrative and organisational skills
C6 Knowledge of databases, PowerPoint, Excel, Access and Word
C7 Excellent presentation skills
C8 Risk analysis
C9 Ability to deputise for the International Recruitment Manager

Experience 

Essential:
E1 Minimum 3 years broad professional /management experience in similar or related role with Degree, 2 years with Higher Degree or evidence of progression and development gained through 7-10 years relevant experience
E2 Experience in an Educational recruitment/marketing office
E3 Some experience of market development and relationship management
E4 Experience of event attendance and presenting to an audience
E5 Some experience of budget management
E6 Some experience of leading on or initiating projects with measurable outcomes and implications across wider teams

Desirable:
F1 Some experience of Higher Education international recruitment/marketing 
F2 Some experience of cross-cultural business transactions 
F3 Overseas work experience
F4 Some people management experience
